A Hamilton lawyer under investigation for allegedly misappropriating money for class action members disrupted by the occupation of a controversial Caledonia housing project has accepted a suspension order.
John Findlay is suspended from practising law by the Law Society of Upper Canada until further notice while they investigate money missing from a fund for more than 700 residents and business owners disrupted by the 2006 occupation of the Douglas Creek Estates on Argyle Street South by members of Six Nations.
The 63-year-old did not appear in person at the brief tribunal hearing in Toronto Friday morning, but sent word he agreed to the suspension.
