Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at Accurate (Peel) Appraisals!

With this family-and-food-filled holiday close in our reach, we can’t help but daydream about turkey and the smell of pumpkin spice and cinnamon. Thanksgiving is a holiday where we reflect on the importance of reconnecting with our loved ones, enjoy the feeling of an over-full stomach, and embrace love, warmth, and fall colours (while choosing to ignore that freezing cold Christmas is only 11 weeks away).

Before you sit around the dinner table this weekend enjoying this wondrous occasion, please do keep the less fortunate in your thoughts. As we know plenty of grocery shopping will be occurring this weekend, we suggest dropping food into the donation baskets at your local grocery store. According to facts retrieved from the Canada Without Poverty website, “1 in 8 Canadian households struggle to put food on the table” and “8 out of 10 provinces saw an increase in food bank usage in 2016.”(Just The Facts, n.d.).

Moreover, we would like to familiarize you with a fantastic initiative in Orangeville called Urban Harvest. This non-profit program hires volunteers to pick fruit and nuts from trees of those willing to donate, and the collections are distributed to the local food bank and other agencies. What a fantastic way to limit food waste and help those in need! Email urbanharvest@orangeville.ca for further information.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving long weekend!
