In the 4 short months that have made up the year 2016 thus far, a total of 22 people have been killed as a result of careless, irresponsible drivers within the GTA. The deceased individuals consist of 16 pedestrians and 6 cyclists, exercising their right to roam and ride the streets, with what should be ease instead of fear. In response to this outrageous number, citizens throughout the GTA, mainly Toronto, have created a petition to not only lessen this number, but to bring it to a raging halt. The goal of the petition is to get the attention of local politicians and to implement what they are calling “Toronto’s Art De Mode” which is to encourage the people of Toronto to aluminate the streets and wear bright florescent colours. Petitioners have been brainstorming ways to make sure “Toronto’s Art De Mode” is successful and plan to get retail stores like Neiman Marcus and Hudson’s Bay Company on board to encourage shoppers to participate. The goal of this movement is to hopefully enhance the vision of pedestrians/cyclists to drivers and end this horrendous trend, which is ultimately caused by simple negligence.

So please, be an active voice, spread the word, let’s put this to an end and make “Toronto’s Art De Mode” a great success!
