When Hope & History Rhyme

History will unquestionably record how deeply our mettle will be tested over the coming months, in our war with C 19.
This deadly contagion will continue to belittle all remedial and provincial challengers until there is an acknowledged and instituted national health agenda. While we wait, we must do our best to follow the prescribed social etiquette of the 3 w`s until this battle is finally won.
Yes, the heralded promise of various emerging vaccines is truly welcome news.
Logically, to be successful we must all support a national distribution plan whenever the vaccine becomes widely available.
Reliable, comprehensive, affordable and timely delivery is key.
Few will dispute that these are the most uncertain of times! The bubbling cauldrons of social disparity and unrest are evident to all that will really look. (long line-ups at food-banks, ubiquitous tent cities and our abandoned seniors). These cankers are becoming quickly exasperated by the quarantines.
Please try to remember through the upcoming Holiday Season, that it is far better to give than it is to receive.
We will all be far richer for the experience.
Seamus Heaney once wrote “History says don’t hope on this side of the grave. But then once in a lifetime. The longed-for tidal wave of justice can rise up and hope and history rhyme”. The winter of 20/21 is one of these such moments, Carpe Diem.
