Ringed Neck Pheasant Spotted in Inglewood!

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized, Wings Over Caledon

Gym members at Riverdale Fitness Mill (Maple Avenue in Inglewood) were treated to a rather unusual and uplifting sighting in early February, a fully mature male ringed neck pheasant parading along the street and through the parking lot. The question remains: was he preening himself for a mate, or was he just entertaining the local ornithologists? Figuratively speaking, time will tell. Please let us know if there are any other sightings over the course of the next few months, especially regarding the more elusive hen. Stay alert and drive carefully, especially those of us that start early when the birds are most active. Keep your eyes and ears open and let’s see if there are any other non-native species living in our backyards.

Pleasant birding!

Ciao,

T.
