Road safety is a critical issue that affects everyone!
376  pedestrian collisions occurred in 2022 in Peel Region. 14 of them resulting in fatalities.
That is more than one pedestrian collision a day!
It’s crucial to remember that these numbers are not just numbers. They represent real people whose lives have been forever changed. As Michael Stewart, a Community Relations consultant with CAA, said, “That’s 14 folks who left their homes and didn’t make it back.”
Pedestrian safety is critical to road safety, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure that pedestrians are safe while walking on or crossing the road.

Here are some tips that can help promote pedestrian safety:

1: Make yourself visible
2: Use crosswalks and pedestrian signals
3: Pay attention to your surrounds , especially in parking lots.
Perhaps our Politicians can encourage pedestrians by creating an Arts de Mode pin for those that choose to commute in visibly bold colours.
